Born and raised in a small town in western NY, Ryan Jackson spent most of his childhood and teenage years swimming in a dense sea of musical shapes and sounds. With hobbies being limited to the arts and getting into trouble, Ryan did a fair share of dabbling in both. He leaned more towards the arts though. As the years progressed, a revolving array of musical instruments, styles and concepts were steadily introduced into Ryan’s life, ushering in a keen sense of versatility. Eventually the world’s sounds started using him as a collage, bottling up in his subconscious so carelessly that there was no other option but to explode. This explosion was one of catastrophic heights. It gave birth to a unique blend of music from “past and present into a gumbo of precise originality.”

Ryan has taken part in many different musical projects of all sorts and varieties, ranging from classical piano to acappella vocal groups and progressive rock bands to jazz funk bands. He has also partaken in acoustic guitar quartets, experimental instrumental jam bands and massive djembe dominant drum circles among many others. Altogether he has a discography of around 8 albums with some of them getting radio play in Jamestown, Dunkirk, Fredonia, NY and Erie, PA. Ryan has performed on the same stages, played music with, and opened for bands and artists such as John Scofield, Medeski Martin & Wood, Fastball, Sonny Rollins, 10,000 Maniacs, Apollo Sunshine, Rusted Root’s Jim Donovan, Blue Oyster Cult, jazz saxophonist Bruce Johnstone and Big Leg Emma to name a few.

Currently Ryan resides in Allston, MA, where his newest direction in music is a mixture of old and modern jazz with relaxing acoustic guitars, melodically surreal vocals, hypnotic electronic beats, ambient synths and foreign spices. Not to forget the mild indie rock touch that he tops off the fusion with. His self produced, debut solo album, ‘Out Of Nothingness’ is the product which is set for release in Jan. 09. It’s a 16-track emotional roller coaster mastered by Luke Sullivan, with artwork created by Jack Thayer and Yin-Chao Liao. Ryan has already started recording his next full length album.
